If you have dedicated space to train, then Dan can help create a unique, functional and exciting space which facilitates world-class training & world-class results.
A gym curated by Dan Roberts can be magical. Serving as both a playground and a temple, it’s a place where you can leave your stresses behind and enter a new world of sweaty mindfulness, growth, and rejuvenation..
Dan offers GYM CURATION & DESIGN CONSULTING to both Luxury Hotels and private households. He has helped (re)design gyms for Sports Clubs, Luxury Private Members Clubs, The Four Seasons & Sangri-La Hotels, and a plethora of home gyms, from multi-room wellness facilities in Royal Palaces to spare bedroom pilates studios in Paris.

Dan provides deep and specialist knowledge to turn your gym into something guests will love. Guests are increasingly fitness-literate and and can tell when the gym is an afterthought (If it looks like a Technogym showroom you have problems!) If you want your gym to stand out, be talked about, and potentially be part of an actual hotel wide wellness strategy, then Dan can curate something fabulous. Every project is unique, but for reference, here’s a sample overview of his three-phased approach.
Phase one – The Dream
- Site visit and a Wants & Needs Consultation with all key stakeholders
- SWOT Analysis report on the current Gym (including tends & competitor analysis).
- Mood Board facilitation: To help agree on the look, feel, functionality & personality of the Gym.
Stage Two – The Plan
- Space Analysis: Looking at Traffic flow, Amenities, Storage and Training Zones.
- Inside-Out Option: For beach or mountain properties, bringing nature in the gym can be done in several novel ways – these will be presented to key stakeholders.
- Technology: Advice on popular, appropriate and new Wellness/Recovery/Performance integrations.
- Future Proofing Report: Go beyond being instagramable. Dan will advise on local & global macro trends and how the gym can marry to your hotel philosophy & brand position.
- Spa, Restaurant & Grounds Integration: A fitness/wellness experience can always be intergrated. (E.g Siro Dubai, Amanouri Phuket & Equinox NYC). There is so much potential to offer significantly more than than you’re currently offering.
- Equipment Advice: Leasing & buying options, with recommended 1st and 2nd choices from all the most reputable manufacturers to suit your budget, maintenance needs, user experience and brand promise. One company branded gyms look pretty but are out of date and are lacking in key areas. Dan can curate a Gym (and curate paces within spaces) that ooze knowledge, passion, leadership and empathy to you guests.
- Functional Extras: Working with your Architect to check function of all design elements, including fire escapes, flooring, acoustics, lighting, wall features and mirrors.
- Creation of a Birds Eye 2D Design: to help visualise trainings zones and user flow.
- Creation of 3D interactive visualisations to get a real feel of the recommended space (including walk through videos)
- Unlimited revisions of 2D & 3D Models until all stakeholders are happy.
Stage 3 – The Details
- Introductions to appropriate equipment suppliers & assistance in negotiating leases, purchase & maintenance.
- Advice: On sustainability, staffing and health & safety.
- Fitness Recommendations: For specific classes, concepts and programs to fit space and brand promise.
- Quality Control & Vibe Development Plan: Including the training needs for gym floor staff and Gym Manager.
- Access to Dan when needed: During installation Dan will always be available to answer last minute issues with architects/builders
- Marketing: Tap into Dan’s global fitness industry knowledge – for help with internal & external marketing & developing appropriate partnerships, new income streams, working with journalists and winning awards.

As space is limited a highly functional design is crucial. Dan can help make it perfect for your current (and future) needs. Dan has helped design home gyms all over the world. He has a two phased approach.
Phase One – Needs Analysis

- What type of home gym do you want?: Maybe it’s a light airy Yoga & Relaxation studio or a industrial chic S&C facility, a Westside Barbell esq Powerlifting dungeon, A ninja warrior training facility, or a calming Dojo.. or maybe, like most of us, you don’t fully know yet. This is where Dan’s coaching expertise helps as you will likely want/need a combination of many types of training and need a very selectively and intelligently designed space to achieve this.
- Mood board: Dan will provide ideas for the look & feel and provide video samples or arrange live viewings of different types of fitness equipment.
Phase Two – Designing your Dream Gym
- Space Analysis: Investigation on floor weight limits and current flooring, under-flooring, heating, cooling, soundproofing, insulation, electrical, lighting and air flow.
