If you have dedicated space to train, then Dan can help create a unique, functional and exciting space which facilitates world-class training & world-class results.

A luxury gym curated by Dan Roberts can be magical. Serving as both a playground and a temple, it’s a place where you can leave your stresses behind and enter a new world of sweaty mindfulness, high performance and rejuvenation

Dan offers GYM CURATION & DESIGN CONSULTING to both Luxury Hotels and private households. He has helped (re)design gyms for Sports Clubs, Luxury Private Members Clubs, The Four Seasons & Sangri-La Hotels, and a plethora of home gyms, from multi-room wellness facilities in Royal Palaces to a bedroom workout zones.

Dan Roberts offers deep, specialist knowledge and unique insights to turn your gym into a space your guests will love. People are increasingly fitness-literate and can tell when a gym is an afterthought (so if your gym looks like a TechnoGym showroom, please pay attention!). If you want your gym to be a true USP: Dan can collaborate with your team and curate something fabulous. Every project is unique, but for reference, here’s a sample overview of his three-phased approach.

Phase One — The Dream

  • Site visit and/or Wants & Needs consultation with all key stakeholders.
  • SWOT analysis report on the current gym (including trends and competitor analysis).
  • Mood-board facilitation to help agree on the look, feel, functionality, and personality of the gym.

Stage Two — The Plan

  • Space analysis: traffic flow, amenities, storage, and training zones.
  • Inside-out options: for beach or mountain properties, bringing nature into the gym can be achieved in several novel ways — these will be presented to key stakeholders.
  • Technology: advice on popular, appropriate, and new wellness/recovery/performance integrations.
  • Future-proofing report: beyond being “Instagrammable” — Dan will advise on local and global macro trends and how the gym can align with your hotel philosophy and brand position.
  • Spa, restaurant & grounds integration: a fitness/wellness experience can always be integrated into the whole hotel  (e.g., Siro Dubai and to lesser extent Amanpuri Phuket & Equinox NYC). There is significant potential to offer guests a better wellness experience than you’re currently offering.
  • Equipment advice: leasing and buying options, with recommended first and second choices from the most reputable manufacturers to suit your budget, maintenance needs, user experience, and brand promise. One-company branded hotel gyms look pretty but are vanilla and lack in key areas. Dan can curate a gym (and curate places within spaces) that exude knowledge, passion, leadership, and empathy to your guests. Guests always know when a gym is designed/curated by someone who cares.
  • Functional extras: working with your architect to check the function of all design elements, including fire escapes, flooring (load capacity, vibrations, function & aesthetics) acoustics, lighting, wall features, mirrors, etc.
  • Creation of a bird’s-eye 2D design to help visualise training zones, equipment placement, and user flow.
  • Creation of 3D interactive visualisations to provide an accurate feel of the curated space, including walkthrough videos.
  • Unlimited revisions of 2D & 3D models until all stakeholders are happy.

Stage Three — The Details

  • Introductions to appropriate equipment suppliers and assistance in negotiating leases, purchases, and maintenance.
  • Advice on sustainability, staffing, and health & safety.
  • Fitness recommendations for specific classes, concepts, and programs to fit the space and brand promise.
  • Quality control & vibe development plan, including training needs for gym-floor staff and the gym manager.
  • Access to Dan when needed: during installation he will be available to answer last-minute issues with architects/builders.
  • Marketing: tap into Dan’s global fitness-industry knowledge for help with internal and external marketing, developing appropriate partnerships and new income streams, working with journalists, and winning awards.

Fees

A personalised quote will be sent after the initial meeting. For transparency: hiring Dan as a gym design consultant typically costs between £10,000–£25,000. He has a non-negotiable fee of £2,500 per day for any consulting work (excluding travel expenses).

For individuals or families, a home gym feels like a luxury, but once experienced, soon becomes a necessity. If done properly, a home gym will be the favourite room in your home. The layout, equipment, colour scheme, lighting, sounds, and aromas can transform a place you workout to a dedicated gym that’s as unique as your signature. Regardless of the size & budget constraints; Dan can design & curate an incredible home gym.

Phase One — Needs Analysis

  • Fitness consultation: assessment and goals discussion (can also include partners/family).
  • What type of home gym do you want?: Maybe it’s a light, airy yoga & relaxation studio; an industrial‑chic BXR-esq strength & conditioning facility; a 1980’s Westside Barbell–style powerlifting den; a ninja‑warrior training area; a calming dojo; or perhaps you just want to make your garage into the ultimate man cave? Dan’s coaching expertise helps you combine the types of training you want and intelligently curate equipment within a limited space and get you home gym that inspires & motivates you.
  • Mood board: Dan will provide ideas for the look and feel, with video samples or arranged live viewings of different types of fitness equipment.

Phase Two — Designing Your Dream Gym

  • Space analysis: inspection of floor weight limits and current flooring, under‑flooring, heating, cooling, soundproofing, insulation, electrical, lighting, and airflow.
  • Budget advice: what equipment you need and where you can save money. The reality is “getting what you pay for” is nuanced in the world of training gear. With treadmills ranging from £250 to £25,000, Dan’s unaffiliated and unbiased advice is invaluable. Whatever your budget, he can design a unique, beautiful, and practical world‑class training facility for your precise needs.
  • Infrastructure recommendations: including flooring, walls, and electrical points.
  • Supplier list: where to buy what (including pre‑owned and custom‑made equipment if necessary).
  • Creation of a bird’s‑eye 2D design to help visualise the space.
  • Creation of 3D interactive visualisations to get an accurate feel of working out in the recommended space before you invest in equipment or building work.
  • Multiple revisions of 2D & 3D models until you are 100% happy.
  • Timeline: the recommended order to buy and install equipment.
  • Future‑proofing report: personalised PDF on additional gear or replacements to suit your needs for the next 3–5 years.
